Currently, transiting Pluto is conjunct her natal Juno, empowering her projected image as socially engaging, queenly, and having a supportive relationship with Bill. His chart indicates that he's in attack mode (progressed Mercury and Mars are conjunct), which explains his impulse to bring Obama down a notch or two. Then in August, with transiting Saturn entering his twelfth house, Bill will have to get used to being in the background.
Pluto's slow progress over the coming few years only further animates Hillary. The sextile to her Sun and the trine to her Midheaven give her global recognition and a prominent position (reiterated by her progressed Sun trine her Midheaven in 2009). The sextile to her Ceres in the sixth house of health in 2009 indicates that one of her first projects (assuming she becomes president) will be heath care reform.
Naturally, some candidates will be mortally wounded—in the political sense—and be forced to drop out immediately afterwards. Transiting Saturn at 6º Virgo hits power points in the horoscopes of all six of the current top-tier candidates, another indication that February 5 is a critical date. The New Moon two days later (conjunct Chiron) infers an ending and new beginning for many candidates.
The fly in the ointment is retrograde Mercury. Information about candidates may be contradictory, false and misleading reports may be issued, and new developments may change voters' opinions. With Mercury retrograde, it seems likely that Super Tuesday won't leave us with a winner, but that more primaries and information will be needed. Mercury turns direct on February 18 while exactly squaring the U.S. Ascendant, marking the next significant turning point.

Political Candidates and the U.S. Moon
February 5, 2008:
Super Tuesday
NewsScope, March 20, 2007. Last Thursday, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the bill moving California's presidential
primary from July to February 5, 2008. The nation's most populous state joins some 20 other states who will also hold their primaries on February 5, making this Super Tuesday exceptionally important in determining the next president.
NewsScope, January 14, 2008. In light of Barack Obama's recent advances, many readers have asked me if I'm sticking to my prediction that Hillary will win. The scenario that I set forth a year ago, has so far played out fairly closely: Obama peaked in August, and is
having a good January. But I suspect February is Hillary's, and eventually she'll win in November.
NewsScope, January 8, 2008. Barack Obama's stunning victory in Iowa was celebrated across the nation as a genuine embrace of change and hope, the two keywords in Obama's campaign. The unexpected turnout of young people and independents will likely repeat in New Hampshire and South Carolina,
giving him tremendous momentum as we head into Super Tuesday. With the Republicans in disarray, Obama is currently the favorite to become America's next president. more
Obama's Vision of Change and Hope
Hillary Clinton's
Upset Victory
NewsScope, January 14, 2008. Going into New Hampshire's primary last week, all the polls indicated that Barack Obama would win. Hillary's upset victory sent pundits scrambling
for explanations, with one of the main reasons being Hillary's emotional, tearful expression on the day before the election. For someone often seen as being scripted, the "crying incident" was a welcome peek into a more human side.

An Astrological Diary of Campaign 2008
February 5, 2008: Super Tuesday
NewsScope, March 20, 2007. From an astrological view, February 5 tends to be important during primaries anyway, with the Sun in Aquarius opposing the U.S. Midheaven. This election cycle, February 5 has become celestially illuminated since the Sun is conjunct Chiron on this date, a combination that helps decipher the main message of the day: candidates who promote the healing power of Chiron will do best.

Obama's Vision of Change and Hope
NewsScope for January 8, 2008. The only major aspect to Obama's Leo Sun (August 4, 1961; 1:06 pm; Honolulu, HI) is the square to Neptune, which infuses his leadership qualities with vision, hope, and the quest for something better. Since his Neptune is located at 8º Scorpio—exactly conjunct the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant—he becomes the perfect screen for Americans to project their highest ideals and expectations.
Obama's Uranus at 25º Leo is exactly opposite the U.S. Moon (orb 0º13'), an electrifying connection that promises radical change. Under ordinary circumstances, this opposition would be too radical, but the mood sweeping the nation indicates people are looking for a dramatic clearing from the past. Hillary's Uranus at 25º Gemini merely trines the U.S. Moon, which also promises change, but without upsetting the status quo.
Obama's progressed Moon is conjunct Jupiter on January 20, so he should continue to do well throughout January. Then matters shift, as Mars turns direct and Mercury turns retrograde at the end of the month, in preparation for Super Tuesday on February 5. At the same time, transiting Saturn will be conjunct his Pluto, the ruler of his chart. Practical Saturn brings unreasonable hope back to earth, testing Obama's statecraft, his ability to work the levers of government.

Hillary Clinton's Upset Victory
NewsScope for January 14, 2008. Astrologically, the important turn-around confirms Hillary's birth time of 8:00 am (not 8:01 or 8:02am). Monday afternoon, at the time of the crying incident, transiting Jupiter was at 4º35' Capricorn, where it formed a perfect trine to her Midheaven at 4º35' Virgo. Jupiter's protective, beneficial influence inspired her to express herself in a convincing and heart-felt way.

Political Candidates and the U.S. Moon
NewsScope for January 14, 2008. That these two candidates would rise above all the rest is based on their strong connections with the U.S. Moon, and the favorable conditions in their individual charts. In a national chart, the Moon represents the people and their security needs, and – most significantly – their favorable disposition to specific candidates. Using the Scorpio Rising horoscope (set for 2:21 pm; July 4, 1776), the U.S. Moon is at 25º28' Aquarius.
Over the last several decades, successful candidates have had close natal or progressed planets in very tight aspect to the U.S. Moon, with orbs of 1/4º or less being common. Theoretically, this statistical anomaly should demonstrate that the Moon is at this specific degree, not 26º Aquarius, as in the popular Sibley horoscope, and certainly not 18º Aquarius, as found in the many Gemini Rising variations.
We don't have accurate birth times for many of the candidates, but using what we do have, John McCain, Fred Thompson, Michael Bloomberg, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton all have the key connections to the U.S. Moon. This means that John Edwards, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and the rest can be categorized as "also-rans". Obama's chart looks charmed, especially with his progressed Jupiter to Uranus aspect. Sure, it's a judgment call, but I still think Hillary will win.

2008: John McCain vs. Hillary Clinton?
NewsScope, April 17, 2006. Arizona Senator John McCain was busy last week hosting town hall meetings in New Hampshire, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio and Florida all the early primary states leading to the Republican presidential nomination in 2008. Meanwhile, New York Senator Hillary Clinton has amassed a huge campaign chest of $19 million in her re-election bid enough to carry over to the Democratic nomination.
the United States, a statistically improbable ten have Mars in Leo. Ten of 42 is way off the bell-shaped curve of expectation, and can only be explained by reference to the U.S. national horoscope.
Of the many national horoscopes proposed by astrologers, only the Scorpio Rising chart (July 4, 1776; 2:21 pm) with Leo at the Midheaven, explains this anomaly. It's also the only national horoscope that explains why the country has had more Scorpio (five) and Aquarius (five) presidents than any other Sun Sign, since these fixed signs are on the critical angles. Adherents to the Gemini and Sagittarius Rising national horoscopes can't explain why we've had so few Gemini (two) and Sagittarius (three) presidents.
Ms. Clinton's Sun in Scorpio is obviously a definite plus, but her Pisces Moon is strong negative. Since George Washington's time, no candidate has ever been elected who was born with Moon in Pisces. McCain's Moon exactly conjunct the U.S. Pluto (the nation's ruling planet) is a big plus, with six elected presidents sharing this sign position, and Abraham Lincoln and Bobby Kennedy having the same degree in Capricorn.
Though neither frontrunner has confirmed they are actually aiming for president, both have the essential planetary dynamics of elected presidents. The most apparent natal placement is Mars in Leo, which they both have. As explained in my book Political Astrology, of the 42 candidates who have become president of

Republicans Settle on either McCain or Romney
NewsScope, January 21, 2008. Although Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson made good showings in South Carolina's hard-fought primary, the real battle came down to whether John McCain or Mitt Romney could take this critical gateway state to the south. Meanwhile, Mike Bloomberg is making exploratory visits to the SuperTuesday states of California and Texas.
John McCain's Sun in Virgo (August 29, 1936; 8:37 am; Panama, Panama) is under the rays of transiting Saturn, testing his ability to assume the dignity and authority of a front-runner. A major configuration in his chart is a mutable Grand Cross. Transiting Uranus will be activating this configuration throughout 2008, bringing him plenty of highs and lows, unexpected victories and frustrating losses.
Romney's Pallas (his Inner Strategist) at 24º Aquarius is well-placed for his presidential ambitions, since it's conjunct the U.S. Moon at 25º Aquarius. However, the one degree orb is significantly wide, and can only make him an also-ran.
When considering McCain's connections to the U.S. Moon* in Aquarius, he has his progressed Jupiter at 25º Sagittarius and his natal Ceres at 25º Scorpio. Both of these placements are a mere 1/4º from making the exact aspect to the
U.S. Moon, giving him a clear inside track to American security concerns. Without these vital links, McCain could not become a winning national candidate.
Mitt Romney's birth time is unknown, but his solar chart (March 12, 1947; Detroit, MI) has no close aspects to the U.S. Moon. Nor does his progressed chart. If Republicans select him for their nominee, they will most certainly lose in November.
Fred Thompson had a good chance to advance, with his Leo Sun opposite the U.S. Moon, but his campaign has fatally faltered.
Mike Bloomberg's Aquarius Sun is precisely conjunct the U.S. Moon, potentially making him a viable third-party candidate. However, he is weakened by having transiting Saturn and his progressed Moon and Mars in weak sectors (third and twelfth houses).
