re: Oprah - Great set of articles today, Wolfstar. Thanks! And the video choice was much appreciated!
re: Oprah - If Oprah becomes president, I hope she runs the country better than she did her school
re: decency - Thought this OpEd in the New York Times might interest you. It makes a case for a new and powerful force of change arising in the US. Is this Lilith in the US chart? Ceres? Other asteroids? Would love to see your thoughts in a future column.
re: Kushner - I remember you talking about Jared and Pluto, and how 2018 would bring hard times to him. I remember how far away 2018 sounded at that time. But ut turned out to be a great prediction!
re: March - First let me again thank you for your weekly column. It is a Monday highlight. This week I have some additional comments regarding the March 24th March for Our Lives and the NRA chart.
Looking at the March for our Lives chart, one standout to me is the Mars-Moon opposition and a wider Mars-Saturn conjunction tying Saturn to the opposition to the Moon. Opposition aspects, as you know, indicate opposing viewpoints and opposing forces. Mars-Saturn could very well be the police. The augmented t-square, Mars & Saturn to Sun to Moon, could indicate loss of life due to police (or counter demonstration) actions.
re: decency - Thought this OpEd in the New York Times might interest you. It makes a case for a new and powerful force of change arising in the US., the force of decency. Is this Lilith in the US chart? Ceres? Other asteroids? Would love to see your thoughts in a future column.
A. Thanks for the link, and it’s something I’ve referred to in the past based on the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn with the close involvement of Ceres and Eris. This chart will be reviewed again in the near future.
re: unwitting collusion - In your story on the Mueller investigation, the unwitting comment was not in any way a likely reference to Don Jr.s meeting which was very witting! He knew exactly who he was meeting with and why. That’s been well established. It refers instead to the indictment’s statements that Trump campaign staff around the country, in other words, locals, were the ones who worked with these people and were even paid by them without realizing they were dealing with Russians. That is stated plainly in the indictment. I think we will see more upcoming about the real Trump campaign running the show that were quite wittingly working with Russians including via social media in other ways via the Rebekah Mercer firm, Cambridge Analytica.
re: Ceres - My question has to do with ceres. I recently discovered that when ceres goes retrograde it lasts for 9 months (long enough to gestate and birth an infant!) and since it's in leo it's conjuncting the very planets pluto is inconjuncting. Since many people must have pluto in leo, is this some kind of generational thing? In my life it has manifested partially as distress and death stalking my pets no matter how hard I try to protect them. Hoping for some relief in June when ceres heads into virgo.
A. Ceres is retrograde for only three months, but is in Leo for nine months. Yes, this may influence the Pluto in Leo generation, also known as the “baby-boomers”. Many will have health crises during this time, or have to manage their parents’ well-being and life passages.
re: NewsScope - Appreciated the insight into Rod Rosenstein, and that whole NewsScope edition was a great read, once again.
re: death - I read your article on Louise Hay in Dell Astrology Magazine. It was wonderful and insightful. You mentioned her end came when transiting pluto and her progressed sun opposed her natal pluto. It seems very rarely that people live past t. pluto opposed n. pluto or 124 years approx. You answered one reader that Jupiter indicated death; the ultimate journey but Louise had no really bad jupiter transits except maybe progressed sun on the cusp of the 8th, something that can't happen in all charts. You know; what indicators relieve us of loved ones against our desire, you might say?
A. Major outer planet transits or progressions to the Sun can greatly diminish one’s vital force, but generally speaking, numerous challenging astro-events happening at once can bring death.
re: NYSE - Regarding your pop quiz about what else is going on in the NYSE chart, transiting Uranus is activating the Neptune-Saturn opposition. Also transiting Saturn is opposing natal Lilith.
A. Yes, transiting Saturn is opposing the NYSE’s Part of Fortune, which in turn is conjunct Black Moon Lilith. Transiting Uranus is nearly conjunct the elevated Saturn, which is certainly a disruptive influence. Looking at the progressed chart, we have a Fixed Grand Cross, which has provided the steady, long-term growth for the last few years. When a Fixed Grand Cross breaks, it’s like an earthquake.
re: Laurence Fink - Did you hear about this yet? <link> A titan in the financial world is threatening to withhold investments from corporations unless they show they ‘contribute to society.’ I thought either he and/or his company might be interesting to look at from an astrological perspective.
A. Very interesting! Thx for the suggestion…
re: yoga - My name is Jenn and I’m a writer at Jen Reviews. I was doing research on yoga and just finished reading your wonderful blog post: In that article, I noticed that you cited a solid post that I’ve read in the past: https://www.yogajournal.com/lifestyle/281. I just finished writing a guide that is even more detailed, updated and comprehensive on 18 amazing health benefits of yoga. It is over 7,000 words and packed with practical tips and advice. You can find it here: https://www.jenreviews.com/yoga/ If you like the guide we’d be humbled if you cited us in your article. Of course, we will also share your article with our 50k newsletter subscribers and followers across our social platforms. Either way, keep up the great work!
A. Thanks for the links and interest in NeptuneCafe. The article where I referred to yoga is six years old now, and hardly anyone reads that. I wrote a more recent piece about how an injured pro wrestler used yoga to heal himself. So I am a fan of yoga and its benefits, and will keep your article on 18 ways yoga benefits health for future reference. I would like to merge astrology with yoga in some way, but it's not so easy. I will keep looking...
re: Trump - Thanks again for showing the fascinating correlations between Trump’s astrology and his behavior. His upcoming eclipsed super full moon on January 31 ties interestingly to the date of his 2018 State of the Union Address, to be delivered only hours before on January 30. The event looks set to provide plenty of controversy, don’t you think?
A. Thanks for the feedback. That's an excellent insight about the State of the Union!
re: death - Are you good at seeing death in a chart? Are Ceres-Pluto aspects part of the signature?
A. In general, that’s not something I look into. Ceres-Pluto does deal with major life transformations, which may or may not include death, but at least the grieving process is evident, along with the survival mode mind-set, or its opposite, the giving up. I've looked at a few death charts and seen some commonalities. Richard Houck's "The Astrology of Death" is a good source, but half of it is Vedic astrology. Still, he points out the prominence of Jupiter in death charts (the ultimate journey), the lunar nodes activated, and the 4th house conditions (end of the matter).
re: John Bouvier Kennedy - I was reading an article about John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossbert (Caroline Kennedy's son) and how he looks so much like John Kennedy Jr. He's very much interested in climate change and has said he 'aspires to a career in politics". Perhaps you could do a newscope article on this young man and whether his chart has 'presidential potential'.
A. Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like a good idea...
re: Washington - Could you give me/us the Birth Date of the State of Washington...... ??? (Sure wish we still had access to all of your subjects, as they were/are a gold mind of information.... ) Thank YOU.
A. I have Nov 11, 1889 for the state of Washington, set in Olympia, time unknown. Penfield uses 2:27 pm based on his rectification. About “access", all back issues of NewsScope are available, I recently updated the menu where you can find the links. It's difficult to organize them because it makes NeptuneCafe so slow in adding new pages.
re: NewsScope - I was just reading old Newscopes at the archives and I know I was blessed the day I found your site. Just reading your columns gives me relief, I think because you make sense of complex situations. Occasionally I even laugh! Thank you for all your enlightening columns.
re: tax bill - I was looking at chart set for Trump signing tax bill. Is there a special significance to the fact that Saturn and Sun conjunct at 0 degree Capricorn. Just how often can that occur?
A. Yes, it's very rare, and is why I said that it's an empowerment of the corporations, especially since it's in the 10th house. The corporate tax rate was lowered from 35% to 21% - a huge subsidy of American corporations paid for by U.S. taxpayers and an expanded federal debt of $1.5 trillion.
NewsScope for March 26, 2018
By Michael Wolfstar
China Counter-Attacks in Growing Trade War
Last Thursday, Trump signed a new tariff order targeting Chinese products worth $60 billion. The White House fact sheet lists 1,300 Chinese products that will get a 25% tariff. China has already responded to Trump’s tariffs on aluminum and steel and is working out additional tariffs to meet this latest challenge. The U.S. stock markets reacted with their worst week in two years.
Trump signed the China tariff memorandum at 12:57 pm (March 22, 2018; Washington, DC) when the elevated Sun in Aries was closely squaring Mars, astrologically signaling the aggressive action. Cancer Rising and Chiron at the Midheaven may indicate the sense of wounded national interests that Trump is addressing, but the Sun-Mars square indicates how many observers feel that this is the beginning of a real, and potentially severely damaging, trade war.
Angular placements further anticipate the most important dynamics behind this executive order. Black Moon Lilith is right on the Descendant, casting her shadow over the entire proceedings. Lilith is in Capricorn, the sign of business, and that’s where she may stir up trouble against the institutional economic order. The World Trade Organization has warned that Trump is disrupting the global economy and a fragile global economic recovery.
The other major angular placement is Mercury in the 10th house, which squares the Cancer Ascendant. Trump signed this bill only hours before Mercury turned retrograde. Mercury will be retrograde for three weeks, and this closely corresponds to finalizing the list of targeted products, followed by a comment period. And then, under Saturn’s and Pluto’s passage through Capricorn, we are entering a phase of growing nationalism. Their hard aspects to the Aries planets indicate that this document could certainly signal an escalating trade war.
Transiting Chiron in late Pisces was trine Bolton’s natal Sun-Chiron when Trump announced his appointment last Thursday. Bolton will assume his post just as Chiron enters Aries, making his elevation a central symbol of Chiron’s transition into this aggressive sign. More than anything, Chiron in Aries fears being weak, so naturally strikes out at perceived enemies to prove its strength. Over the next year, Bolton’s progressed Sun in Aquarius makes an octile (45º) to natal Aries, ensuring that he will continue to promote an unusually provocative military agenda.
Bolton was born with his Sun-Chiron conjunction in the warrior sign of Scorpio (November 20, 1948; Baltimore, MD; time unknown), a combination that feels innately weak, and so must do something big to compensate. For many, this can mean an increased ambition to accomplish something noteworthy. Bolton’s Sun is also quincunx Uranus, giving him an interest in operating outside expected or mainstream behavior.
Most significantly, Bolton’s Mars in adventurous Sagittarius is energized by a conjunction with expansionist Jupiter, and given a penchant for danger by the opposition to Uranus. The Mars-Uranus opposition in itself is associated with extreme irritability, violent temper, and aggressive eruptions. This disagreeable combination is somewhat tempered by Mars trine Ceres and sextile Venus. Still, the Mars-Uranus opposition is prone to unpredictable behavior that respects no limits.
John Bolton as National Security Adviser
Effective April 9, the controversial former U.S. ambassador John Bolton will replace H.R. McMaster as Trump’s national security adviser. The appointment of this super-hawk has made allies anxious, and increased fears that a nuclear war has become a real possibility. As recently as last month, Bolton wrote an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal arguing that it’s perfectly legitimate to strike North Korea first.
Top Five Astro-Events for April
1. Mars conjoins Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn this month. Ordinarily, astrologers would consider this a constructive phase, especially for business and political policies – anywhere steady growth toward building a better future may manifest by setting realistic goals. However, Mars will turn retrograde in late June and then backtrack through Capricorn, forcing some adjustments, reappraisals, and abandoning of projects that were poorly thought out.
2. and 3. Mercury turns direct on the 15th, the same day as the New Moon in Aries. These concurrent astro-events both symbolize a new beginning. Mercury turning direct in fiery Aries may bring some impulsive action that is on target. With Mercury’s octile (45º) to Venus, financial paperwork is being finalized (taxes), and romantic interests may be re-kindled. The New Moon conjoins Uranus, presenting an exciting and/or crisis-oriented environment, especially for those with prominent planets or angles in late Aries or the other cardinal signs. Expect the 15th through 18th to bring dramatic, fast-paced action, especially on the national scene.
4. Chiron enters Aries on the 17th for the first time in 50 years. The Wounded Healer archetype in action-oriented Aries can express itself as crippling self-doubt, or the opposite, an extraordinary toughness and combative spirit. In the mind-body alternative health community, self-esteem issues and physical well-being take on more importance. This is a good time to begin an exercise regimen, see a chiropractor, acupuncturist, or get a massage.
Politically, expect surprising incidents of violence to shape the national agenda. Recall that Martin Luther King, Jr was assassinated only four days after Chiron last entered Aries on April 1, 1968. Rioting and civil rights legislation quickly followed. Also, university students began protesting the Vietnam War, which correlates to Chiron entering Aries while in the U.S. 5th house of youth (uniquely true in the Scorpio Rising U.S. chart). We’re seeing a parallel movement this time around, with students gathering to support sensible gun control laws.
5. Saturn and Pluto turn retrograde on the 17th and 22nd, emphasizing their closeness in Capricorn, and by declination as well. On January 12, 2020, these two will unite at 22º Capricorn, and from now through then they are shaping large-scale geopolitical trends such as the return of nationalism, authoritarianism, and political conservatism. Saturn and Pluto began their dance together back in 2016 when they were parallel by declination, which is equivalent to a conjunction. Trump’s election was an early sign of the nationalist wave, and we can expect some significant nationalist policies to begin as Saturn and Pluto turn retrograde, both in the U.S. and around our global village.
